CABO REAL SURPASSES $200 MILLION IN SALES AS GOLF COURSE UNDERGOES RENOVATION AND WAVE BASIN NEARS COMPLETION
PR Newswire
LOS CABOS, Mexico, Oct. 20, 2026
LOS CABOS, Mexico, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Cabo Real, a new private residential and lifestyle community taking shape in Los Cabos, today announced the recent closure of its championship Robert Trent Jones II golf course for an extensive renovation. Upon reopening, the course will be reserved for the enjoyment of Cabo Real’s members and be amongst the finest in Mexico. This announcement comes as the highly anticipated Endless Surf wave basin is set to open this December, and the club surpasses $200 million in real estate sales. Additional amenities include racquet sports, wellness and recovery facilities, mountain biking and hiking trails, multiple beach clubs and a variety of food and beverage offerings.
“We are at an exciting moment for Cabo Real, with so many of the pieces we envisioned now coming together,” said Graham Culp, managing partner at Meriwether Companies. “With the course renovation now underway, we’re focused on creating an exceptional private golf experience that complements the community’s amenities and celebrates this spectacular destination.”
Golf Course Transformation
In September, Cabo Real launched a multimillion-dollar renovation of Cabo Real golf course, an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones II design long regarded as one of Mexico’s most extraordinary layouts. After operating for 32 years as a resort course, Cabo Real will transition to a private golf club exclusively for Cabo Real members, with the renovated course anticipated to reopen in late 2027.
Working closely with Robert Trent Jones II, who originally designed the course on horseback before its completion in 1994, the renovation will preserve the dramatic natural terrain and signature ocean views that have defined Cabo Real for more than three decades. It will also create a more varied and engaging experience for members built around fun, playability and strategy.
Planned golf enhancements include:
- Enhanced routing, with a signature hole finishing by the new clubhouse
- Four new golf holes (#1, #7, #8 and #9), including dramatic canyon-edge and ocean-view designs
- Complete greens and bunker renovation across all 18 holes with renewed strategic character
- New dual-sided driving range with putting and chipping green
- A new five-hole social short course with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from every hole
- Four new comfort stations, enhanced golf operations and upgraded golf cart paths
- 100% turf replacement and upgraded irrigation infrastructure
- A new members-only golf clubhouse overlooking the course
“Cabo Real is a very special place, one we first scouted on horseback, moving through arroyos with panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez in the distance on every hole,” said Robert Trent Jones II. “It has always had an adventurous spirit, and this new chapter with Cabo Real allows us to honor the original vision while making the course more playable, strategic and enjoyable for members.”
Surf Experience Takes Shape
Cabo Real is anchored by Endless Surf’s first wave basin in North America, capable of producing 240 customizable waves per hour with rides up to 25-seconds and controllable wave heights of up to seven feet. Spanning four acres and powered by Endless Surf’s ES48 technology, the wave basin is designed for surfers of all levels, from beginners learning the fundamentals to seasoned riders looking to practice and hone their skills on consistent, predictable waves. Adjacent to the wave basin, the Surf Club will serve as a central gathering place with a resort pool, surf viewing areas, food and beverage offerings and surf retail. The Surf Club is expected to open in early 2027.
Real Estate Success
Developed by Meriwether Companies in partnership with Grupo Questro and Clubs Desarrolla, longtime stewards of the land, Cabo Real has generated significant momentum with more than $200 million in contracted sales to date. Homesites, including custom Estate Lots, Boardwalk Homesites and ocean-view Villas, are available from $1.5 million USD, while turnkey Surf Casitas designed by Mexico City-based Sordo Madaleno are now fully reserved.
The first homes are expected to be completed by May 2027. Membership at Cabo Real is reserved for real estate owners, with access to club amenities limited to members and invited guests.
