Under the orders, these nicotine pouch products, which have been authorized for sale in the U.S. since January 2025, may now be marketed with the following modified risk claim:
“Using ZYN instead of cigarettes puts you at a lower risk of mouth cancer, heart disease, lung cancer, stroke, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis.”
The authorization is limited to 10 ZYN flavors—Chill, Cinnamon, Citrus, Coffee, Cool Mint, Menthol, Peppermint, Smooth, Spearmint, and Wintergreen—each in 3 mg and 6 mg strengths. It does not apply to ZYN generally, to other ZYN products or strengths, or to any other nicotine pouch brand. It also does not mean that ZYN is safe, risk-free, FDA-approved, or approved for smoking cessation.
