Christopher Garcia’s family will hold an Aug. 24 press conference to discuss their wrongful death lawsuit against LAUSD and seek accountability.
IRVINE, CA, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The family of **Christopher Aiden Garcia**, a 16-year-old high school football player who died after suffering a catastrophic brain injury during a varsity football game, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), alleging that the district failed to provide safe facilities, proper equipment, and adequate supervision.
Case Name, Number: The Estate of Christopher Aiden Garcia, et al. v. Los Angeles Unified School District, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 25NWCV01176.
Christopher’s family and their attorneys will hold a **press conference on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.** at Carrazco Law, 2400 Main Street, Suite 200, Irvine, California, to discuss the lawsuit and the family’s pursuit of accountability.
On **August 23, 2024**, Christopher, a junior varsity football player at South East High School, was asked to participate in a varsity football game. During the game, he executed what his family describes as a textbook defensive tackle. According to the lawsuit, Christopher suffered a devastating brain injury after his head struck the ground.
The lawsuit alleges that LAUSD’s failure to provide safe facilities, appropriate equipment, and adequate supervision contributed to Christopher’s fatal injuries. Christopher was placed into a medically induced coma and passed away 11 days later at the age of 16.
Following Christopher’s death, his family submitted a government claim to LAUSD. After the claim was rejected, the family filed a wrongful death lawsuit seeking accountability for the circumstances surrounding Christopher’s death.
At the August 24 press conference, Christopher’s family will share their son’s story, discuss the impact of his loss, and explain why they believe accountability is essential to help prevent similar tragedies in the future. Attorneys representing the family will provide an overview of the lawsuit and answer questions from members of the media.
Members of the media are invited to attend.
