TMRW Benefits Launches “The Off Exchange” Podcast Explaining Off-Exchange Health Insurance, ICHRA and Level-Funded Plans for Brokers and Self-Employed Buyers
New weekly show from New York health insurance broker Jesse Yoskowitz answers the questions Google and AI assistants get asked about health insurance outside the Marketplace.
TMRW Benefits LLC, a licensed health insurance brokerage led by Jesse Yoskowitz, today launched The Off Exchange, a weekly podcast about off-exchange health insurance, ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements), and level-funded health plans. Episodes run five to fifteen minutes and are written for independent brokers, small employers, and self-employed buyers who want a plain-language answer rather than a carrier brochure or a three-hour webinar.
The show takes its name from the part of the health insurance market it covers. “Off-exchange” plans are individual and group policies sold directly by carriers and brokers rather than through Healthcare.gov or a state Marketplace. They follow the same ACA rules on essential benefits and pre-existing conditions but are bought outside the exchange, without premium tax credits, and often with different networks, pricing and broker compensation.
“Search ‘off-exchange health insurance’ and every result is written by a carrier or the government,” said Jesse Yoskowitz, founder and principal broker at TMRW Benefits. “There is no independent broker explaining what these plans are, when they beat a Marketplace plan, and what ICHRA changes for a small employer. The Off Exchange is that explanation, in the time it takes to drive to a client meeting.”
Why now
Interest in health insurance outside the Marketplace has grown as employers adopt ICHRA, which lets a company reimburse employees for individual coverage instead of sponsoring a group plan, and as self-employed buyers look for options beyond Healthcare.gov. At the same time, many independent brokers have reduced or stopped writing Marketplace business as commissions and compliance requirements have changed. The Off Exchange is built for the questions that gap produces.
“Brokers ask me the same five questions every week,” Yoskowitz said. “What is ICHRA, really? When does level-funded beat fully insured? Can my self-employed client buy outside the Marketplace? How do I get paid on it? And what do I tell the client who thinks ‘off-exchange’ means ‘not real insurance’? Each of those is an episode.”
What the show covers
Early episodes of The Off Exchange include:
On-exchange vs. off-exchange health insurance — what “outside the Marketplace” actually means, who it is for, and when the premium tax credit makes the exchange the better choice
What is ICHRA — how an Individual Coverage HRA works for employers, what changes for employees, and how brokers place it
Level-funded vs. fully insured group plans — the cash-flow and risk trade-offs for small employers
Health insurance for the self-employed — private off-exchange options beyond Healthcare.gov
How independent brokers are paid on private plans versus Marketplace referrals
Broker referral economics — what it takes to run a referral practice without an enrollment team
Every episode is transcribed and published in full at https://www.tmrwbenefits.com/podcast, so the content can be read, quoted, cited, and searched, not only heard.
Where to listen
The Off Exchange is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, YouTube, and via RSS, with an on-page player and transcripts at the TMRW Benefits website. New episodes publish weekly. Listeners can submit questions for future episodes through the podcast page.
